HIKING PHOTOS
HikePix is a visual chronicle of many interesting and beautiful places when hiking or walking along a trail, path, or exploring an area, enabling you to experience something of what it’s like to be there. It can help you find places you’d like to visit. Many of the places featured on HikePix are located in southern Utah, but more states and countries are also included in the ever-expanding scope.
Many hikes are short – often a few miles or less (technically they aren’t hikes unless you string a few together), and others can take hours or up to a full day. Included are large gardens and places of historical and archeological significance. All are enjoyable, intriguing, and often stunning. The focus is on the experience, not the level of exertion or adrenalin. Scenic drives and waypoints are also included that often lead to roadside exploration. Each provides an opportunity to be inspired by the beauty and wonder of our planet and its residents.
More than 25,000 curated images from 370 places are organized by location and name. One main goal of image galleries is to share the experience of each trail, though photos and video don’t adequately capture what it feels like to be there. Narrative is minimal and links to helpful websites are provided to give you detailed information about places and hikes. An adventure can start with seeing imagery of somewhere you’d like to explore for yourself. Hopefully you’ll enjoy visiting these places through the photos, and perhaps in person as well.
USING HIKEPIX
Text links open hike galleries. Some galleries are large and may take a short while to load before they navigate readily. Click a gallery image to enlarge it, which also opens photo viewer and slideshow. Viewer arrows navigate photos forward and backward, play and pause button turns on and off a slideshow. In the viewer, the mouse wheel will zoom in and out of photos. Save As to download images for personal or editorial use. Close viewer or Esc to return to the gallery. Info page has text links and brief information about hikes. About page describes general terms for use of these photos. Enjoy.
